Step One - Finding Quality in Your Search

A first step in conducting better searches is using the right search engine. We recommend Google because they offer the best quality through advanced technology. Indeed, they they hire lots of really smart people.

You can try a Google search using the box below. Your search results will open in a new window so that you can refer back to this tutorial.

If you did not find what you were looking for, chances are that your search may have been either 'too general' or 'too specific'. Your search is probably 'too general' if you saw many listings and none of them applied to what you are searching for. Likewise, if you didn't see any results at all, your search is likely 'too specific'. Here are some tips:

Try being more specific if your first attempt was too general.
For example, instead of 'job', try 'advertising job'.

If you were too specific, try being more general.
Searching on 'advertising job' produces better results than 'entry level advertising job'.
